Progress Meetings - Why we have them
It is so important for every business to review their progress against their goals and the Wednesday Business Club is no different. We strive to improve and have an ideal opportunity to do so with so many great businesses contributing.
So, we have two Progress Meetings each year at which the members openly discuss the Club, its structure, direction, possible activity and most pressing needs for the coming 6-months. At these you, as a member, would have the opportunity to influence the direction and goals for the Club for the following term. This also includes a financial update, after running costs are taken into account, if a surplus is available; How might this be invested in the Wednesday Business Club? The members help to decide on the investment choices for the club, including advertising and promotion, meeting format and location and events etc.
We have an unpaid leadership team, of no more than 5 members, that meet in person or via Zoom/Teams. This group takes the day-to-day operational decisions, makes sure the venue is paid promptly and monitors the clubs’ finances. It is also responsible for delivering the agreed actions from Progress Meetings and general conversations with members.
Attendance is one of out key metrics, as without members and visitors attending, the latency of the club can dwindle. To counter this we remind members of meeting dates regularly and send out regular newsletters to our mailing list about our Open meetings.
1-2-1's are tracked, as these are essential to build trust and confidence among our members. Members get to know each other and their businesses really well, so that each can recommend their colleagues business to the right audiences.
Referrals could be described as the life blood of networking! They build our businesses, grow our customer base, and are mutually beneficial to business and customer alike.
All three of the goals above are critical to the success of any small business networking group.
We'll chat more about these things in future articles....
